WOOL FELT

Felt is the generic term used to designate the material obtained from the interlacing and compacting of fibers without any use of adhesives, such as glues, gums, resins and similars. Today, sheep wool felt is valued for the benefits that a 100% organic fiber brings in relation to its synthetic similars, being applied in several industrial sectors, such as electrodynamic, automotive, electronic, metallurgical, refrigerator, aeronautics, in civil construction, in the manufacture of shoes and sporting goods, in decorative applications, in thermal and acoustic insulation, in polishing and filtering, among many others.
DURABILITY
Under constant environmental conditions, the hardness, resilience and dimensions of the wool felt can be maintained for years.
FLAMMABILITY
The hardness, flexibility and resilience of the felt remain unchanged at the limit of the thermal variation between -20 ° C to + 80 ° C. Due to the presence of water and keratin in the chemical composition of the sheep wool fiber, when in contact with fire, the felt does not ignite immediately, only carbonizing.
EASE OF WORK
Felt can be cut, turned or sanded in any shape, without breaking or crumbling.
RESILIENCE
The sheep wool felt can be tensioned up to its elasticity limit for a long period and it will still return to its original shape when the tension or compression is released.
RESISTANCE TO CHEMICALS
Wool felt is inert to a large amount of chemicals, as well as most hydrocarbons. It resists diluted acids, but decomposes when in contact with alkalis. The presence of water can change its physical dimensions.
INSULATING PROPERTIES
Felt is an efficient insulator against the propagation of sound and heat.
VIBRATION / SHOCK SHOCK
The wool felt effectively absorbs the energy resulting from vibration or shock, while other natural or even synthetic elastomers store the energy and then release it.
COEFFICIENT OF FRICTION
In polishing processes, in which high frictional temperatures are reached, the wool simply chars without causing any damage to the material being polished.
FILTERING PROPERTIES
The flaky surface of the sheep wool fiber efficiently retains microscopic particles in its structure, functioning as an intelligent filtering alternative for a multitude of liquids. Different thickness and density configurations offer varying degrees of filtration, retaining particles without obstruction.
RETAINER
Sheep wool felt has the property of absorbing and retaining various liquids, including those that are denser than their own specific weight. Since the felt is inert to the action of oils, there will be no contamination of the lubricant.
